Flashes on Flesh – Sounds and Images of Human Speciesism

Directed by

What does whalesongs have to do with Giovan Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater? What is speciesism?

This short film reveals what happens to animals commonly considered objects to be bought and sold. The images speak for themselves, with the animals’ endless pleading, their cries and moans, scenes from where man’s insatiable hunger manufactures tasty treats to eat.

Speciesism is a way of thinking that completely blocks out such a reality from our minds.

Linda McCartney once said that if slaughterhouses had transparent walls, we’d all be vegetarians. Perhaps not everybody, but surely many of us.
