Although removed from the forest primeval, humans still belong to it. To maintain this tie, an old man repeats a ritual all his own yet full of primitive symbolism. He leaves the city and takes a trail through rocky terrain to reach an abandoned mountain village, where, amidst the old houses, he lights a fire. The smoke rising out of the chimney signals that life still exists even in complete solitude.
