Blackfish

Directed by

Tilikum is an orca, weighs over 5 tons, and has lived in captivity since 1983 when it was caught off the coast of Island. One of the attractions of SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida, it has gained notoriety for the fatal incidents on its record, including the death of Dawn Brancheau, a 40-year-old trainer who was pulled into the water and drowned after a show in February 2010. Investigating the reasons for such incidents, often turned into media-hyped events, Gabriela Cowperthwaite describes the conditions and the consequences of keeping "killer whales" in captivity, as well as the extraordinary intelligence these wild animals possess.
