Black Mayonnaise

Directed by

Brooklyn's Gowanus Canal, polluted by more than a century of industrial activity, is one of the most contaminated bodies of water in the United States. The filmmaker follows the start of drainage operations carried out by the Environmental Protection Agency, through powerful images of colorful particles of pollution floating on the surface and lying on the river bed. Over the next ten years, the EPA agency plans to remove a mixture of toxic sediments that include tar, chemical waste and heavy metals.
