Back to God's Country

Directed by

Based on a best seller by writer Curwood, Wapi the Walrus, the film tells of a wild dog tamed by the gentle touch of a woman who repays him when she needs him.

Dolores lives in the woods with her father. She meets a writer, who is also a forest ranger, and falls in love with him. Rydal, a wanted man from the police, disguised as an officer, tries to use violence on her. Her father, who rushes to her aid, is arrested and then killed, staging an accident. Dolores, who witnessed the scene, is unable to intervene in time.

A year passes. She has left the woods after getting married to Peter, the writer who is to embark on a mission on a ship, the Flyng Moon. Here, the evil Rydal knocks him out, dropping a heavy sail on his head. Dolores goes ashore for help and interrupts Blake, the manager of an Arctic trading post, as he is whipping his dog. She befriends the animal who saves her from a trap that Rydal and Blake have set for her and Peter.

Endangered by human actions, the diversity of species is crucial to the harmony of the interconnected ecosystems we inhabit: the implications of its loss and why this issue affects more than just those that go extinct.
