Some 500 years ago, the Amazon was intact and inhabited by humans. Today, it is a symbol of man’s dominion over nature, where the commercial value of its resources prevail. The film presents alarming data on pollution and deforestation (18% of harmful emissions are produced by livestock raising; 20,000 sq. km were deforested between 2007 and 2009 alone), visits meat production sites (woodlands, slaughterhouses, markets, tanneries), and examines the underlying reasons why modern civilization’s insatiable consumerism has ravaged the Amazonian ecosystem.
