A journey from north to south along less travelled, often inhospitable roads to hermitages far from the noise of this world to places where silence welcomes those who enter there. A tale of those who chose solitude – men and women in their search for a deeper sense of meaning through retreat into an inner self. The hermits describe their daily routine, the care for their few personal belongings, their ascetic life, offering insights in human nature, modern society’s temptations, and the relationship between the hermit, and man in general, and the divine.
