Vendanges
Directed by
Southern France, mid-September. A group of twenty people with very different backgrounds (some unemployed, some retired, some still studying, some immigrants, or with nothing to lose) gather in the countryside to pick grapes in preparation for the grape harvest. It will be four weeks of hard physical labor, during which they will have to face hardships such as heat stroke and blisters from the pruning shears, union battles for a fair wage, and bitter arguments. These will, however, also lay the foundation for intense friendships, if not the birth of a truly utopian community of men and women capable of making them forget the precariousness of their condition, even their existential one.
