The Second Life

Directed by

The human impact is a threat to millions of animal species, leading to their extinction and a dramatic loss of biodiversity that threatens human existence. A profession that aptly visualizes this loss is taxidermy. The film gives an account of the trade and the interests of Maurizio, Robert, and Christophe, three taxidermists working for museums in Rome, Berlin, and Brussels. Though the have never met, they share the same conviction that preserved animals have something to teach society about nature. While we observe them at their work, a voice from the dead warns us of imminent danger.
