The End of the Line

Directed by

Seas and oceans will be devoid of fish as early as 2048. This is the most likely scenario if the pace and timing of fishing continue at the same rates as today. Rupert Murray has accompanied Charles Clover (whose bestseller the documentary is based on) on a journey from the Strait of Gibraltar to the coasts of Senegal and from Alaska to the Tokyo fish market, describing what is becoming a true mass extermination with tragic and devastating consequences. Many species are in fact at risk of extinction, such as bluefin tuna, which has little chance of survival due to the ever-increasing demand for sushi.
