System Error
Directed by
The world is obsessed with economic growth. But how far can it push this model of development when it is caught in the grips of financial crisis, climate change, and depletion of natural resources? Starting from this contradiction, the film embarks on a journey around the world to see how this is possible from the perspective of the powers governing the current system in which global capitalism is viewed as natural law and the market as capable of self-regulating itself. These claims alternate with extracts from Karl Marx’s thought, for example, “Modern bourgeois society resembles a sorcerer who is no longer able to control the underground forces he conjured up.” Are we really willing to sacrifice our lives in this ominous rite?
