Monsieur Kubota

Directed by

Shin Kubota, marine biologist at the University of Kyoto, wants to uncover the secret of eternal life by studying the Turritopsis dohrnii, the immortal jellyfish with an extraordinary capability to regenerate itself. When it senses threat, it reverses its life cycle and returns to a primordial stage. A contemplative portrait of an extravagant scientist that alternates between suspended silence and karaoke performance, in addition to reflections on his childhood, on being human, and on life. But also on immortality, a thought that torments him, asking the question when and whether man is ready to really confront a similar existential condition.
