Debate on the destinies of several European squares, sparked by the decision to construct an underground parking garage beneath Torino's Piazza San Carlo. A bicycle trip from the Grande Place in Brussels, to Maastricht's Markt Platz, and on through the streets and squares of Paris in search of models of viability and urban planning that are compatible with the historical settings and lifestyles of European cities.
