Believing he is the last survivor of the frightening effects of a mysterious epidemic that changes humans into vampires, Dr. Robert Morgan spends his nights fighting off attacks by ferocious monsters. During the day, armed with a hammer and stake, he seeks out the creatures where they sleep, and drives his stake through them. On his wanderings he meets a woman and brings her back home, thus learning he is not the sole survivor. But he has also stumbled on a horrible truth: his crazed vampire hunt has led him, unawares, to murder innocent young victims.
