Génomania

Directed by

A documentary about the promises and dangers of using biotechnologies in Medicine. Some controversial cases are shown. Today children's hyperactivity is said to result not from socio-environmental conditions but from genetic factors, and announcements about the discovery of tabagism and homosexuality genes are regularly made. The gist of the question is clearly pointed out by Jeremy Rifkin: he accuses the patents on genes, which have determined the rise of a new type of eugenetics, justified not on political or racial terms, but simply on an economic basis. The images of a rally in favour of a public health service concretely close the video.
