Empty Trash (tutto quello che avremmo voluto sapere su discarica e inceneritore…forse)

Directed by

The comparison between the two meth-ods mainly in use for the waste disposal of urban solid waste: garbage dump and thermal-exploiter (aka incinerator).

Waste administration in the Province of Turin is confronting institutions before the need to find an alternative solution to garbage dump which presents so many problems to make it unfeasible. The new solution is “thermal-exploitation”, strongly opposed by local communities.

Video-reportage Empty trash would like to give some knowledge of both waste disposal methods, from the point of view of “LIVELLO cittadino”, and the perception of garbage problems and feasible solutions, together with respective doubts and uncertainties.

Through our video we are willing to take part in the current debates offering useful hints for all people concerned with this choice.

Scene/ries of sustainability

A course/competition to make a video on daily routine and imaginary life, pictured the subject of sustainable development from the environmental, economical and social point of view.

Second edition of SCENE/RIES OF SUSTAINABILITY shown within the International Festival CINEMAMBIENTE 2003.

This project has been devised to carry out effective works on environmental communication, offering a chance to all concerned people to express their original ideas related to environmental topics. The audiovisual tool has been chosen for its communicative impact.

Through five work groups who made five video-reports, SCENE/RIES OF SUSTAINABILITY has created the conditions of a training path to enhance the students/competitors experiences in the field of environmental sustainability and to supply all technical and cultural tools for the audiovisual making.

The five video-reports shoot the angle of people deeply rooted in our areas trying to yield even small changes; so they help the testing of new communication strategies to face complex problems of public interest.

SCENE/RIES OF SUSTAINABILITY is a pilot project promoted by Turin Territorial Laboratory for Environmental Education, M.A.P. Media Agency Province of Turin, Programming Service Sustainable Development and Waste of the Province of Turin, in collaboration with Coop Zenit Audiovisual Arts and CINEMAMBIENTE.
