From the outside, the world of pigeon fanciers is poetic in many respects. Pigeon fanciers spend their free time looking after birds and watching them fly over their houses' roofs. On the other hand pigeons seem to pay back this love when they are far away and succeed in finding the way back home with great perseverance. But next to the pigeon fanciers' unquestionable love for animals and breeding, there is also a taste for competition which makes them organize races between "stables". The documentary shows them discussing breeding methods in farmyards or in the Association office. Then we see them waiting for the racing pigeons to arrive. But victory, the reward to all their efforts, does not always come.
