The hidden camera captures the action of zoo staff, visitors, and animals in their daily routine, part natural, part artificial, part exposure, part reflection, within a confine that represents closure yet also proximity shared by humans and wild animals.

Marechiaro - The Man and the Beast
The short film was made with the support of the "Making a Film" call for proposals within the "The Man and the Beast" participatory film format, conceived by Antonietta De Lillo and produced by Marechiarofilm, with the contribution of the MIC.
The format was created with the aim of encouraging young filmmakers to create their own documentary films through the support and network that participatory filmmaking creates. By sharing creative processes and bringing together professionals from different generations, participatory filmmaking stimulates reflection and practice in the field of contemporary documentary in all its possible forms of hybridization and experimentation, also thanks to the use of new digital technologies, and with a view to eco-friendly cinema, based on circularity and reuse.
