The director of Sans soleil takes us again on a journey with a secret. Not Siberia, China or Japan this time but Paris; Marker goes back to the world of Le joli mai. From the walls and rooftops Monsieur Chat, with his sly smile, is our guide through the innumerable happenings that fill the poetical and political scene of the French capital. From the presidential election campaign in 2002 up to the war in Iraq, Marker increases the digressions, the eye winks, the boutades and the witticisms, with the support of his travelling companion who understands the “spirit of the times”.
