biography

Born in 1921, he is a filmmaker, photographer, poet, novelist and traveller. He made his debut as a filmmaker in the 1950s alongside Alain Resnais, subsequently signing documentaries, investigations, film-essays and collaborating, in various capacities, with various directors, including Haroun Tazieff in Le Volcan interdit. In ‘63 with Le joli mail he won the international critics’ prize at Cannes. In ‘67 he promoted the collective film Loin du Viêtnam and founded the group SLON. A few years ago Marker began to use new technologies, making videos, installations and multimedia works.
