Blue Carbon

Directed by
Through the eyes of Jayda G(Jayda Guy), Grammy-nominated music producer, DJ and marine toxicologist, with a soundtrack by RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan and the participation of Seu Jorge, music and science come together to suggest how more ‘listening’ to nature can help avoid climate catastrophe. From the United States to Senegal, Vietnam, France, Colombia and Brazil, the recent discovery of the ability of oceans to absorb far more carbon from the atmosphere than tropical rainforests is investigated. This ‘blue carbon’, as scientists call it, found in salt marshes, seaweed and mangroves, is of interest to large companies, which seek to offset their emissions through carbon credits. A tale of a glimmer of light opening up and an invitation to treasure the value of nature.
