Amazon Gold

Directed by

A clandestine journey to witness the destruction of the rainforest caused by the uncontrolled proliferation of illegal gold mining in the Amazon. Accompanied by the voices of Sissy Spack and Herbie Hancock, we follow two war reporters, Ron Haviv and Donovan Webster, up the Madre de Dios River in southern Peru (increasingly polluted by the tons of mercury used to extract the precious metal). Led by activist and biologist Enrique Ortiz, they uncover an environmental emergency with global consequences that seriously threatens the extraordinary biodiversity of one of the planet's most precious ecosystems.
