biography
An educated biologist, he discovered his passion for documentary filmmaking in 1991 during a research trip to Antarctica. Since then he has worked extensively as a cinematographer before making his directorial debut with March of the Penguins (2005), winner of the Oscar for Best Documentary. This was followed by The Fox and the Child (2007), Il était une Forêt (2012) - the first project of the non-profit organisation Wild-Touch, which he founded to protect the environment -, Ice and the Sky (2015) and La Marche de l'empereur - L'appel de l'Antarctique (2017). In 2015 CinemAmbiente presented him with the Movies save the Planet Award.
