Dopo aver diretto reportage sportivi e di avventura per i canali televisivi CBS, France 2 e Canal+, si dedica al documentario realizzando, tra gli altri, Australie 50° de solitude (1996) e Massai, les guerrieres de la pluie (2003). Con Vado a scuola riceve i premi César e Henri-Langlois e nel 2015 dirige Il grande giorno, proseguendo il suo omaggio al coraggio dei giovanissimi.
