Dal suo debutto alla regia con The Great Rock 'N' Roll Swindle - La Grande Truffa Del R & R (1980), Julien Temple è diventato uno dei pionieri dei video musicali, dirigendo i Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Neil Young, Tom Petty e Janet Jackson. Ha poi realizzato diversi film che hanno avuto distribuzione internazionale, tra cui Absolute Beginners (1986), Le Ragazze Della Terra Sono Facili (1989) con l'allora sconosciuto Jim Carrey e Geena Davis, Bullet (1995) con Mickey Rourke e Vigo - Passione per la vita (1998) ispirato alla vita e al lavoro del grande regista francese Jean Vigo. Al Festival Internazionale di Toronto del 2000 è stato presentato il suo film, Pandemonium, basato sulla relazione tra i poeti del 18° secolo Coleridge e Wordsworth.
