biography
Since his debut film The Great Rock 'N' Roll Swindle (1980), he has become one of the video clips' pioneers. He has directed the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Neil Young, Tom Petty and Janet Jackson. Then he has made several films which have had a large international distribution such as Absolute Beginners (1986), Earth Girls are Easy (1989) starring the then unknown actor Jim Carry and Geena Davis, Bullet (1995) starring Micky Rourke, and Vigo – Passion for Life (1998) telling the story of the great French film director Jean Vigo. His film Pandemonium, based on the relationship between the XVIII century poets Wordsworth and Coleridge, has been screened at the Toronto International Film Festival 2000.
