Ha partecipato come attrice a numerosi film di successo, tra cui Velluto Blu (Blue Velvet, 1986, di David Lynch), Oci ciornie (1987, di Nikita Mikhlakov) e Cuore Selvaggio (Wild at Heart, 1990, di David Lynch), oltre a varie serie televisive. Ha debuttato nella sceneggiatura con il documentario My Dad Is 100 Years Old (2005, di Guy Maddin), sulla figura del padre, Roberto Rossellini. Come modella, invece, è apparsa sulle più note riviste internazionali, quali "Vogue", "Elle" e "Vanity Fair", posando per fotografi come Richard Avedon e Bruce Weber.
