Scrittrice, nel 2010 pubblica il libro autobiografico The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating, ottenendo diversi premi tra cui il John Burroughs Medal e il National Outdoor Book for Natural History Literature. Nello stesso anno compie la sua prima incursione cinematografica realizzando il trailer del libro, finalista al Mobey Award per il Miglior Book Trailer dell’anno.
