Si è laureato in cinema alla Wesleyan University di Middletown in Connecticut. Ha diretto i cortometraggi Egg (2005), The Origins of Electricity (2006) e Glory at Sea (2008), prima di esordire nel lungometraggio nel 2012 con Re della terra selvaggia.
