Ti-koyo e il suo pescecane

Directed by

On a Pacific island, a curious friendship develops between Ti-koyo, a child, and Manidu, a baby shark. The two find each other and play in a secret lagoon where one day Ti-koyo leads Diana his playmate. Life will separate the three. Diana will be sent to study at a Californian boarding school and Manidu will follow the waves of the ocean.

Many years later, the loyal and courageous Ti-koyo will befriend a new shark, an adult like himself, with whom he will fish for pearl oysters in the secret lagoon, but the greed of the traders will break the spell and the lagoon will be overrun by fishermen. Ti-koyo will leave for a lonely island with Diana at his side, who has returned to his home country and is in love with him.

This is an ecological fable in which the tale of the friendship between a Polynesian boy and a sea monster is an adventurous and poetic apologue for the relationship between man and nature.
