Lucciole per lanterne

Directed by

After Pinochet privatized  nearly all of Chile’s water resources in 1981, the country’s water rights have been granted to private companies interested in hydroelectric power production. Now, however, the HidroAysén project will involve the construction of five dams along the Pascua and Baker rivers in Patagonia. Interweaving the story of three women living hundreds of kilometers apart yet facing the same emergency, the film describes the consequences a model of development can have on a population living at geographical and social extremes.

Pure from its source, uncontaminated and bottled in plastic, this essential element is both wasted and sought after like a treasure, too much or too little in a changing world.
