Le Alpi l’arco occidentale: le Marittime e le Liguri

The mountains of the vast Alpine range appear to be all the same but they are in fact very different. The Marittime and the Liguri rise from the waters of the Mediterranean Sea but reach the sky with peaks such as the Argentera, the Toraggio (the “Matterhorn of Liguria”) and the Mongioie. There are also the cliffs used for rock climbing at Finale, “garden of rock walls”. Other peaks and valleys are full of prehistoric remains and rock engravings, left behind by the Ligurian peoples far beyond the region's present borders.
