Over six hundred homes, including villas, apartment buildings, and entire condominiums, built around Lombardy's Malpensa Airport, have been abandoned over time by thousands of residents, no longer legally habitable due to the surrounding noise and air pollution. These ghost homes are now in a state of total abandonment and are subject to theft, vandalism, and looting, due to a lack of even the minimum public funding needed to protect them.
