Gunda
Directed by
On a farm, the sow Gunda gives birth to and nurses twelve piglets, a herd of cows grazes in the fields, and a few hens, one of which has only one leg, roam the meadows. Amidst hay, mud, grass and straw, in a long take, the camera follows the lives of these animals like a silent watcher, often placed at ground level, to better capture their movements, actions, and emotions. Shot in a very bright black and white, with the effect of a bas-relief, where the human presence is almost imperceptible, reduced only to its indirect manifestations (cages, fences, tags). A powerful reflection on the relationship between man and nature, forcing the viewer to drop any human-centred vision and to explore with new eyes a vast, unknown and beautiful world, with which we share the same planet.
