Deep Rising

Directed by

An updated account of geopolitical, scientific and corporative intrigues which reveals the behind-the-scenes of new international plans for the massive deep-sea extraction of metals, deemed essential for the production of electric batteries, and gas that can counteract the global energy crisis. This film, narrated by actor Jason Momoa, follows the story of The Metals Company, a newly established mining business. It is about to begin operating in large areas of the Pacific Ocean thanks to financing and the authorisation by the competent international authorities. By observing how these companies coopt scientific studies and provide believable goals for investors, in order to convince them of the beneficial effects for humanity of their projects, this film sheds light on this destructive industrial model, based on the deliberate choice of not developing alternative resources.
