Richard
Fleischer
biography
A descendant of Max and Dave Fleischer, the famous cartoonists of the 1920s and 1930s, he began his career by winning an Oscar in 1948 with Design for Death and kicking off his collaboration with major Hollywood majors. After several noirs, he made 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea for Walt Disney in 1954. Without losing the originality of his own style, he crossed different genres: action, adventure, colossal and thriller, from Barabbas (1962) to The Last Run (1972), passing also through the war strand with Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970).
