biography
He is one of Italy’s outstanding film directors and writers; he applied equal mastery of drama and comedy in his 40-year film career. Among the numerous awards he received are: two Oscars for Divorce Italian Style, the Golden Palm at Cannes for Signore & Signori, and the Nastro d’Argento, posthumously for the screenplay to Monicelli’s Amici miei. Serafino received first prize at the 1969 Moscow Festival.
