biography

He is a film director, screenplay writer, director of photography; he directed award-winning Vermisat (1974), Maicol (1988), Barnabò delle montagne (1994). With Ermanno Olmi he co-founded the Ipotesi Cinema school-workshop. He teaches at the University of Padua and is visiting professor at foreign universities.

In the last ten years he co-directed with Karine de Villers the following movies: Calle della pietà (2010), Agnus Dei (2012), Black Light (2015), Corpo a corpo (2014), Delta Park (2017), Il sorriso del gatto (2018), winning film of the 22nd CinemAmbiente, and Vanitas (2020).
