biography
Born in 1954 in the Miyagi prefecture, Otomo started his career as a comic strip artist and writer. In 1973 he published the comic strip A Gun Report and then became very popular with the Akira series. At the end of the 1970s he took an interest in action cinema: among his works we may mention Akira (1988) and Cannon Fodder (1995).
