He was born in S.Vith, Belgium, in 1944. He graduated from the University of Cologne in German, History and Political Science. He has been working as a television reporter at Westdeutscher Rundfunk in Cologne since 1971. Gert Monheim has always focused his work on social and political issues. He has made numerous reports and films for television.
