biography
Director, screenwriter and producer, he graduated from Tbilisi State University in Film and Theatre in 1996 and later specialised at the New York Film Academy. His first feature film The Other Bank (2009) won fifty international awards and was the first chapter in a trilogy dedicated to Georgia's recent history that continued with Corn Island and Khibula (2017). In 2022, he directed Beautiful Helen, a semi-autobiographical reflection on the uprooting of a young woman who returns to Tbilisi after many years spent in New York.
