Franco
Piavoli
biography
Born in Pozzolengo near Brescia in the early Thirties, Franco Piavoli worked as a law teacher in High School. His career as a film-maker started in the early Sixties with some successful shorts marked by a personal poetic vein. Le Stagioni (Seasons) (1961), Domenica Sera (Sunday Evening) (1962), Emigranti (Emigrants) (1963). From the torpor of the Eighties blossomed his first two features, a true revelation in the desolating panorama of those years II Pianeta Azzurro (The Blue Planet) (1982) and Nostos (1989). He finished his latest film Voci nel Tempo (Voices in the Time) in 1996. As well as teaching and film making he has also worked for the theatre.
