biography
He made his directorial debut in the 1990s. In 2001, his film War Photographer was nominated for an Oscar, and in 2009, Space Tourists won the World Cinema Directing Award at the Sundance Film Festival. Genesis 2.0 (2018), co-directed with Maxim Arbugaev, won the 21st edition of CinemAmbiente. As a producer, he made Raving Iran (2016), Saudi Runaway (2020), and Girl Gang (2022), by Susanne Regina Meures. Former president of the Documentary Commission of the Swiss Federal Office of Culture, from 2006 to 2023 he was an associate professor of Reflection Competence at the University of St. Gallen.
