She was born and grew up in New Delhi (she is Vikram Seth's sister). She has worked in India, Europe and the United States, both as an independent film-maker and in many television and cinema productions. She has shot 16 documentaries and several audio-visual works, besides signing TV and radio reports. She has worked in cinema with directors Deepa Metha (Fire and Earth), Pankaj Bhutalia (Karvaan, recently screened at the Venice Film Festival), Daisy von Scherler Mayer (The Guru) and Gary Sinyor (Stiff Upper Lips). Her friendship with Arundhati Roy goes back to the film In which Annie gives it THO-SE ONES…, a real “cult” movie directed in the early 90's by Pradeep Krishen and written/performed by Roy herself.
