Si è laureato all’Istituto giapponese di cinema con il documentario Dear Respectful Humans, prima di lavorare come assistente alla regia in una casa di produzione televisiva. Ha quindi realizzato Flowers and Troops (2009) e Fukushima - Memories of the Lost Landscape (2011).
