Documentarista tedesco, ha abbinato la produzione di film con l'investigazione, creando un personale cinema che denuncia realtà dure e sconosciute sul maltrattamento e lo sfruttamento dell'uomo nei confronti degli animali. Dal 1989 ha completato decine di documentari-denuncia come Livestock Transport (1993), Breeding, transportation and slaughtering of chicken (1994), Licence to torture (1996), No pig named Babe (2000).
