biography
Nato nel 1954 nella provincia di Kochi (Giappone), si è laureato in Agraria presso l'Università di Tokyo. Dopo aver studiato Comunicazione nel dipartimento di Arte della Temple University di Philadelphia, ha lavorato come regista televisivo freelance per la Tak Inagaki Production di New York e il Nippon Television Network. Dal 1996 ha diretto i documentari I Love My Town Kobe (1996), Physically Challenged: Can't End Up Like This 2000 Days to Independence (2003), realizzando anche numerosi reportage per le più importanti emittenti giapponesi, ottenendo riconoscimenti a carattere nazionale.
