biography
Ha studiato presso la University of Toronto. Come giornalista ha ottenuto il National Newspaper Award nel 1972 per gli articoli apparsi sul The Globe and Mail. In seguito si è dedicato al cinema documentaristico, ricevendo numerosi riconoscimenti di carattere internazionale: in particolare con Just Another Missing Kid (1981), suo debutto alla regia, ha vinto l'Oscar.
