Diplomatosi alla Scuola di Fotografia della Beijing Film Academy nel 2000, ha esordito con i documentario Along the Railway (2000), a cui seguiranno Uinder the Skyscraper (2002), il corto Life in Beijing (2003), Little Red Flowers (2004), Beautiful Men (2005) e Stone Mountain (2006).
