Esordisce come regista di documentari alla fine degli anni Sessanta. Nel tempo realizza anche film di finzione, quali Black Stallion (1979) candidato all’Academy Awards e Wind (1992). Il suo film più recente è Duma (2005), sull’amicizia in Kenja tra un adolescente e un piccolo ghepardo.
